Sally Shaar

Sally Shaar is a Juno-winning Syrian-Canadian vocalist, songwriter, producer, creative director, DJ, facilitator, and music marketing specialist based in Toronto. Her work spans artistry, production, strategy, and storytelling, moving fluidly between the studio, stage, and creative development spaces she helps shape behind the scenes.

 

As a founding member of the alternative rock band MONOWHALES, signed under the band’s own label TRUE RECORDS in partnership with Warner Music, Sally was a core creative force behind the group’s recordings, music videos, live performance identity, and marketing campaigns. Her work contributed to establishing MONOWHALES as one of Canada’s most distinctive and forward-thinking rock acts.

 

Since the band’s disbandment in 2024, Sally has continued to build an international career as a writer, producer, and collaborator, working with artists including David Archuleta, OBGMs, Frankie Flowers, and Alice Animal, among others. Her work spans songwriting, production, and creative direction, often bridging artistic vision with strategic execution to help artists develop strong and cohesive identities.

 

Alongside her studio work, Sally is an active DJ and facilitator, leading workshops focused on creative process, sustainability, and empowerment within music communities. Her practice is informed by her lived experience as a Syrian-Canadian immigrant and multidisciplinary independent artist navigating the evolving music industry.

 

In addition to her artistic work, Sally offers consulting in music, branding, and creative strategy, supporting artists and brands in developing authentic  projects. She is deeply committed to mentoring emerging and underrepresented voices and to building sustainable creative ecosystems grounded in collaboration,
care, and longevity.
